Managing Your Communication Mediums

Channels in the Communicate App represent the different methods or mediums through which you deliver your messages, such as Email, Instagram, or Pre-Service Slides. Channels organize how your communications are categorized and displayed within the Calendar view, allowing for efficient scheduling and management of your communication efforts.

1. What are Channels?

Channels are essential elements that define how and where your communications will be delivered. Each Channel corresponds to a specific medium, and these are represented as rows within the Calendar view. You must have Channels set up before you can start adding communications.

2. Adding Channels

To begin using Channels:

  • Accessing the Channels Panel:

    • Click on the Channels icon in the sidebar to open the Channels panel.
  • Default Channels:

    • The app comes with a set of 3-4 predefined Channels ready for use. These can be edited or deleted according to your needs.
  • Adding a New Channel:

    • Click the “+ New” button to create a new Channel.
    • You’ll be prompted to select an icon for the Channel from a predefined set of over 25 options.
    • Enter a name for your Channel. There are no restrictions on the name, and you can include any characters you need.
    • Once you’ve selected an icon and named your Channel, click “Add” to finalize it.

3. Editing and Managing Channels

The Channels panel allows you to manage your Channels effectively:

  • Editing Channels:

    • To edit an existing Channel, click on the three-dot icon to the right of the Channel name. You can change the icon and name as needed. All changes are applied immediately across the app, so any communications associated with the Channel in the Calendar will be instantly updated.
  • Reordering Channels:

    • You can reorder your Channels to suit your workflow. Click on the reorder icon to the left of a Channel and drag it up or down the list. The app provides visual feedback during this process, highlighting where the Channel will be placed as you drag it.
    • The order of Channels in this list directly corresponds to the order of rows in your Calendar view.
  • Deleting Channels:

    • If you need to delete a Channel, click on the three-dot icon next to the Channel and select “Delete.”
    • Note: Channels that have communications assigned to them cannot be deleted until those communications are removed or reassigned. This ensures that no communications are inadvertently lost.

4. Exiting the Channels Panel

Once you’ve finished managing your Channels, you can exit the panel by clicking outside the panel or using the close button at the top left. All changes made in the Channels panel are saved automatically, so you don’t need to worry about losing any updates.
