What is a Campus?

A campus is a location in your organization. Multi-campus workspaces and global vs campus campaigns appear only on Plus when multi-campus is enabled and configured.

What is a Campus?

A campus is a location or site your church operates (name, order, optional Primary). Campus records matter most when multi-campus is on for Plus—they power WORKSPACE, global vs campus-owned campaigns, and campus schedules.

Full guides: Multi-campus (Plus) · Workspace (Global and campus).

Single-campus vs multi-campus

Single-campus (default)
If you are not on Plus, or multi-campus is not enabled, the app behaves like one location: church name in the top nav (no WORKSPACE switcher), no global vs campus campaign chrome, and no Global Schedule / campus schedule tabs.

Multi-campus (Plus + enabled)
Requires both Plus and the tenant multi-campus flag (not automatic on upgrade). Then you get:

  • WORKSPACESwitch workspace: Global (when allowed) and each campus
  • Global vs campus-owned campaigns/communications (blue/globe vs gray/map)
  • On global campaigns: Global Schedule plus optional campus schedule branches, locks, and related flows

With one campus after enablement, many Global coordination features stay limited; organization-wide members can still open Global in WORKSPACE. Campus-limited users with one campus see a static campus name.

Training line: Global is shared across campuses. Campus is specific to one location.

Campuses panel

Sidebar Campuses (needs campus.viewOwners, Admins, Managers, Editors, Viewers with campus view). When multi-campus is on, open the panel from the Global workspace. Viewers don’t get the full structure sidebar; managing create/edit/delete needs campus create/edit/delete (Owners, Admins, Managers—Editors are view-only).

Actions: New (Campus nameAdd), drag to reorder, row Edit, Set as primary / Remove as primary, Delete. Delete is blocked while the campus is still assigned to any campaign.

Plus, multi-campus not on yet: The same panel can show activation (Is your church ready for multi-campus?Get Started → name campuses → Turn on multi-campus), or stay on one location.

Essentials users see an upgrade path for the multi-campus feature (nav can prompt Plus).

Frequently asked questions

Q: Is every Plus church automatically multi-campus in the UI?
A: No. You need Plus and multi-campus enabled and set up. Until then, Communicate stays single-campus style.

Q: Who sees the Global workspace?
A: People with organization-wide membership when multi-campus is on. Campus-limited users never see Global—only their campuses. Owners and Admins are always organization-wide when multi-campus is on.

Q: Can I delete a campus?
A: Yes when allowed—not while that campus is still on any campaign. The app shows an error if delete is blocked.

Q: What is a campus schedule?
A: On a global campaign, a campus schedule is a branch of the Global Schedule so one location can customize locally. Campus-owned campaigns use a single schedule (no those tabs). Product labels include Campus Schedule / create-campus-schedule prompts—see Multi-campus (Plus).
