What is a Campus?
A campus is a physical location or site your church uses. In Communicate, campus records power location-aware planning when multi-campus is on for Plus organizations.
Single-campus vs multi-campus
Single-campus (default)
If you are not on Plus, or multi-campus is not enabled, or you have not added campuses and finished activation, the app behaves like one location: there is no Global workspace row, no global vs campus campaign chrome, and no Global Schedule / campus schedule tabs on campaigns. You can still run campaigns and communications the same way an Essentials-style church would.
Multi-campus (Plus, enabled)
When Plus turns multi-campus on and you have the campuses the product needs (for example, more than one campus before Global coordination and the Global workspace appear), you get:
- A WORKSPACE switcher: Global vs each campus (depending on your access scope).
- Global vs campus-owned campaigns and communications (blue/globe vs gray/map cues).
- On global campaigns: Global Schedule plus optional campus schedules (branches), locks, and copy-from-global flows.
See the full guide: Multi-campus (Plus): workspaces, campaigns, and schedules.
Campuses panel (high level)
With the right permission, Campuses in the sidebar opens a panel to add, reorder, set primary, edit, and delete campuses (delete is blocked while a campus is still assigned to any campaign). Plus organizations that are not on multi-campus yet may see Get Started messaging in the same panel.

Frequently asked questions
Q: Is every Plus church automatically “multi-campus” in the UI?
A: No. Multi-campus behavior requires Plus and the feature to be enabled and set up (including adding campuses). Until then, Communicate stays in a single-campus experience.
Q: Who sees the Global workspace?
A: Only people with organization-wide (global) membership when multi-campus is on. Campus-limited users switch among their campuses only. See Multi-campus (Plus).
Q: Can I delete a campus?
A: Yes, when the product allows—not while that campus is still assigned to any campaign. The error message states this clearly.
Q: What is a “campus schedule”?
A: A branch of a global campaign’s schedule so one campus can customize locally while staying tied to the global campaign. Campus-owned campaigns use a simpler schedule without those tabs.
