Workspace (Global and campus)

What the WORKSPACE control is, when Global vs a campus name appears, and how it affects what you see—only when multi-campus is on for Plus.

Workspace (Global and campus)

The WORKSPACE control in the top navigation is your current context: either all campuses you are allowed to work in as one org-wide view (Global) or one specific campus (shown by that campus’s name).

In one line: Global is shared across campuses. Campus is specific to one location.

When you will see this

Most of the time you won’t. The switcher appears only when both are true:

  1. Your organization is on Plus, and
  2. Multi-campus is enabled for the tenant (not automatic just because you upgraded).

Otherwise the top nav shows your church name—no WORKSPACE control (Essentials, multi-campus off, or no campuses yet).

When multi-campus is active, WORKSPACE appears (on larger screens) with the current name. Open it to Switch workspace: Global first (when you’re allowed), then Campuses in sort order. Switching shows a brief Switching workspace / Updating your space… overlay. Your last choice is remembered for your login.

With only one campus after multi-campus is on:

  • Organization-wide members can still open WORKSPACE and choose Global or that campus (many global coordination features stay limited until you add another campus).
  • Campus-limited members with that single campus see a static campus name (no dropdown).

Who gets Global in the menu

  • Organization-wide access: You can see Global in the switcher when multi-campus is on.
  • Campus-limited teammates: They never see Global. With one campus they may see only that campus name. With several, they switch between those campuses only.

Owners and Admins are always organization-wide when multi-campus is on; Managers, Editors, and Viewers can be organization-wide or limited to specific campuses—see User Permissions and Roles.

Why workspace matters

Your workspace changes:

  • Campaigns — which list rows you see, create options (New Global Campaign / New Campus Campaign vs New Campaign), and whether a global campaign is editable on its page
  • Calendar — how global vs campus communications can be moved or edited
  • Timeline — whether you can drag/resize global campaign bars
  • Templates — Smart templates are scoped to Global vs the current campus
  • Channels — Global vs campus options (Used at, Add / Remove, org Delete)
  • Campuses sidebar — management when multi-campus is on is from the Global workspace

Full rules: Multi-campus (Plus).
