What is an Assignment?
An assignment is a Plus feature that delegates a campaign or communication to one teammate and tracks their progress (Received, In Progress, On Hold, Complete). The assignee gets a notification (unless you assign yourself). Full guide: Assignments.
Roles (Plus): Sidebar Assignments needs assignment.view—Owners, Admins, Managers, and Editors. Viewers do not get the page. Creating/changing assignees needs assign permission (same roles that can assign). Progress updates: the assignee (with edit permission) or anyone with assignment manage (Owners, Admins, Managers). See User Permissions and Roles.
Why Do Assignments Matter for Church Communications?
Assignments help teams:
- Distribute workload — Clear ownership per campaign or communication
- Track progress — Shared statuses instead of side-channel updates
- Stay accountable — One assignee at a time
- Coordinate — Pair with comments on Plus
Without assignments, ownership and progress often stay informal and easy to lose.
How Do Assignments Work in Communicate?
Create / change: On Plus, use Assign to when creating, or Assign: / Assigned: + (choose person) on a campaign or communication. Reassign by picking someone else (no clear-first step). Clear the person for Unassigned.
Assignments page: Sidebar Assignments (Beta). Two columns—Communications and Campaigns—grouped by status. Cards show title styling, dates, and progress. Use Show completed… / Hide completed… per column. Who can assign also gets Viewing: + (choose person) to open another teammate’s board when other members exist.
Progress: Update on the Assignments page or via Progress: next to Assign on the item. Options: Received, In Progress, On Hold, Complete (this “Complete” is assignment progress—not campaign or communication status). Finished items may show Complete (click to restore).
When Should You Use Assignments?
Use assignments when more than one person owns the plan and you want a single responsible person plus visible progress—especially for larger campaigns or parallel communications.
